What is more important in a museum, the DISPLAY or the FUN?

After many visits to the British Museum, I found myself puzzled by what exactly drew people to it?

Was it the vast collection of ancient objects collected from around the globe, or the different leisure activities, from cafes to the pizzeria scattered around?

The museum seemed like it has lost its primary purpose of making the display fun and engaging, feeling more like a social space than a hub for cultural dicovery.

Some objects merely being there to serve as convenient pit stops by the visitors to check Whatsapp quickly, or adjust their outfits, barely sparing a glaze to the object itself.

This raised a critical question:

How can I reimagine the museum experience in order to make the display more interactive through playification?

Technical Thesis

Happy to share that I recieved a High Pass with my third year ETS (Environmental and Technical Studies) project “The Play of the Museum”. It was so fun to work on and its a reflection of the adaptive theatre I imagined within the boundries of the British Museum.
What if artefacts became actors themselves?
Enjoy the read :)
